Why not find a program in real medicine like nursing or even a physician?
Alternative means secondary and not real. If you want to help people, practice something that works and can actually help people.

Your best two choices may be either a Doctor of Chiropractic (licensed in all 50 states), or a Naturopathic Physician (licensed in about a dozen states).
Here is a link to a list of Chiropractic Colleges.http://www.naturalhealers.com/feat-chiro…
Here is a list of accredited Naturopathic Colleges. There are unaccredited naturopathic schools, you need to avoid them.http://www.aanmc.org/
Best wishes and good luck.

It's short for "alternative TO medicine". i.e. an alternative to stuff which works.
It's a multi billion dollar scam.

Other than what you are taking you could try turmeric capsules. Buy ones that are standardized for curcumin which represents the active ingredients. When you took bromelain, did you make sure you took it on an empty stomach? You need to take it inbetween meals for best effect. There is also Ginger which has pain relieving properties as well as anti-inflammatory properties. There is also Devil's claw that has both pain reliving properties and anti-inflammatory properties. However, I would consult your doctor or a pharmacist first if it is ok to take Devil's claw and ginger on top of all that ibuprofen and if you are any other prescribed meds.
You can also try Devil's claw gel or glucosamine gel or arnical gel on your legs and ankles. Use one of the other and follow instructions on the box.
Also it might help if you avoid wearing flat shoes. Wear shoes that have a small heel as this puts less stress on the tendons. In flat shoes your tendons would be under strain.
Best wishes.

This question may well start flame war but sod it I will answer anyway.
To be brutally honest the only common theme I see in alternative therapies is a lack of convincing evidence for their effectiveness. sorry to all practitioners but it's true.
This is certainly it's modern usage given therapies seem to be divided into evidence-based and alternative.
