l know both exercise before birth and above average fitness contribute to a quicker recovery from birth, but do they increase the speed of delivery and reduce pain involved? A friend of mine delivered in 10minutes. Does age also contribute? She is 21

I don’t reckon so. The only way being fit may help you with pain and the speed of the labor is you may be able to better concentrate on relaxing your body. But you can be super, super fit, but if you try to get away from the pain, fight it, tense up, it’s gonna hurt a lot worse and last longer.
What do you mean when you say your friend delivered in 10 minutes? She was only in labor 10 minutes (I highly doubt it)? Or she only pushed for 10 minutes?
And no, age doesn’t make a difference. Usually the first delivery is the toughest and subsequent labors get simpler and quicker. I really hope that’s the case for me! I was 20 when I delivered my son- and I had a 26 hour labor (unmedicated, I should add), but the 8 minute pushing stage kinda made up for it.
yes, exercise will help you have a healthy labor. Not too much exercise dough, try 20 minutes a day for 2 and a half days a week. And don’t lift at least more then 20 to 25lbs. Not only exercise will help you, but fruits, yogurt, and healthy meals will help your labor to be safer, and helpful for you and your child.
Other then physical experience, don’t forget to read more books then watch a movie. Books wont cool your pain, but it would be a lot of help for your child in the future.
