How does birth control affect weight loss?

I have been on a strict weight loss program. I eat generally healthy and go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and about three times with a personal trainer.
But, soon I am plotting on getting into birth control pills. I have been told that your hormones go crazy with the pills… Would this affect my weight loss? I know it reacts differently with each woman… but what are the possibilities?

Thanks in advance!

When I took them I didn’t notice any significant weight gain or loss. I had a friend who gained 30 lbs, but she was about 100lbs to start, always been one of those bone skinny girls when she was younger. Other friends, maybe 10 lbs or so, but like I said if anything I might have gained 5 lbs. I reckon its because the hormones affect your appetite, making you hungrier more often, but as long as you pay attention to that and keep doing what you’re doing you’ll be fine.

Does anyone know of any good online weight loss groups?

I am looking for some online support, or a chat room, for weight loss. Does anyone have any recommendations? It doesn’t matter what type of diet the other people are doing, I am just looking for other people to talk to while trying to lose weight.
Just to clarify, I am not looking for a diet, I am looking for people to talk to. I do Weight Watchers, I exercise and I have a very realistic outlook of how much I want to lose in a given week. The first answer I got from Lexi is really weird, so this is why I am clarifying my question.

sparkpeople.com

you can make a customized diet plot for yourself, and an exercising
plot, there are forums, on-line groups and you can find real life
groups in your area, and join them, and it’s all free

What do you eat after weight loss surgery?

I’m considering weight loss surgery. What does one eat after a surgery? Could I just follow the same diet (without the surgery) and get the same results?

If you are considering the surgery, why are you asking if you can get the same results following the same diet? Surgery is the last option for those who are seriously overweight, and ALL other methods have failed. It sounds like you want to try and change your diet, which is excellent. If you have not tried diet and exercise, then you should. This surgery is perilous, and full of risks.
Spend the time exercising and eating healthy food. It took a long time for you to place on the weight, so it is going to take a long time to take it off. Just be patient and you will be rewarded for your efforts.
They give you very strict instructions about what you can, and cannot eat after surgery. For instance, you cannot drink and eat at the same time. You cannot eat anything that contains huge amounts of sugar, or stout. At first you are limited to a liquid diet, then you are allowed things like jello, or other soft foods.
You must also consider the consequences of having this type of surgery done, not just small term, but reckon long term, in the future. The majority of people who have this surgery do have some sort of complications, and they do gain a lot of the weight back. If you have not addressed the emotional aspect of why you overeat, this is probably not the best option for you.
Weigh your options carefully, and make a VERY educated choice. Speak with many people who have had this done. Question them all kinds of ?’s. I know many people who have had this done, and sure it gives you the results you want very quickly, but for what they have gone through, it isn’t close to being worth it. Excellent luck.

Recovering From A Weight Loss Setback

The dreaded weight loss setback….it happens to each of us at least once on our weight loss journey. We go on vacation have a fantastic time only to come back and step on the scale. When we do, we’ve gained back some weight and are disappointed. Or, you could be an emotional eater who is going through a personal crisis that results in added pounds.

Dealing with a weight loss setback is a part of weight loss and probably happens to everyone at one time or another. There is probably never a time when everything in our life went according to plot. If it does then you need to write a book and let the rest of us know the trick. Assuming that it has not, it is something that we must learn to deal with or it can really bring you down and keep you there.

When this setback occurs you must make a choice between struggling to recover and continuing to slide back into ancient habits. Before the choice is made, we must realize something about ourselves. It’s okay to slip up. Forgive yourself and forget that it ever happened.

Once you choose to struggle and recover, try to learn what caused the setback in the first place. The answer will help you to avoid repeating the same pattern again. A common cause of setbacks in weight loss is emotional eating. Unfortunately, you don’t find out that you are an emotional eater until you get emotional and start to eat.

This is not considered normal eating. Emotional eaters eat to relieve stress. You don’t have to be hungry. The act of eating something that pleases you releases those same “feel excellent” endorphins as exercise. It’s a cruel joke, I know, but there it is. The trick is to pinpoint emotional eating before you’ve gained too much weight.

Find someone to lose weight along with you. They will be able to encourage you and also tell you when you seem to be heading towards another weight loss setback. They can also be helpful by telling you the truth and not just what you want to hear and in turn you can do the same for them. By pointing out the excellent attributes to someone else, you will learn to do it for yourself.

When it comes to struggling and dealing with weight loss and the inevitable setbacks that come with it, it is never pleasant. As you battle back, your mind may tell you that you messed up. Learn to ignore it by replacing that negative feedback with positive words of encouragement. Accentuate the positive things about yourself. Are you a star at your job? Tell yourself how excellent you are at what you do. If you have kids, bask in the knowledge that you are a fantastic mom or dad.

Being on a diet and dealing with a Weight loss setback is a process. Even when you lose the weight, you must work to maintain that loss and continue to be healthy and fit. Don’t give up early in the game. Learn to deal with setbacks and get on with working towards your weight loss goals.
